We are so excited to begin sharing this holiday bread! This seasonal sweet bread from Milan takes over 10 days to make from start to finish. While the history of the name of this bread is up for debate, our favorite story says the name comes from the Milanese dialect "pan del ton" meaning cake of luxury!
This holy grail of Italian baking is made with fresh milled wheats, farm raised eggs, local butter, Hi Vue local honey and "lievito madre". This year's panettone are filled with Mashpi 80% Dark Chocolate disks and Sweet Season's Blueberries that we dried and soak in apple balsamic and brandy. Topped with a crackly sugar crust this sweet bread is found in every home beginning in October- January in the north of Italy.
Perfect for a holiday dessert, breakfast or even turn it into the most decadent French toast! We will have 2 sizes available in very limited quantities. Individual mini Panettini or Family Sized Panettone (serves 4-6). Panettone will last as is (uncut!) for 2 weeks but also can be frozen.
