This sauce has multiple layers of history in both Italy and the USA. Both claim to have invented it. While “Alla Vodka'' is commonly accepted as an Italian-American classic now because it is no longer commonly found on menus in Italy, it actually can trace its history back to a restaurant in Bologna, Italy in the 70s. Its ride in popularity came in Russia in the early 80s due to an Italian chef serving political delegations a version of alla vodka.
We’re happy to keep this simply delicious light and creamy sauce alive with our Vermont take on “alla vodka”. Roasted farm grown Rutabaga in brown butter and blended with cream and farm grown chives and scallions. We use organic Tito's Vodka in order to lighten this right creamy sauce. Toss with your favorite pasta shape and a little freshly chopped basil! Buon Appetito.
Ingredients: Rutabaga, Onion, Heavy Cream, Butter, Organic Olive Oil, Tito's Vodka, Chives, Scallions, Apple Balsamic Vinegar, Salt.
